My first bit of advice: Don’t watch the trailer!
Before going to see the film last week I knew hardly anything about it, and I’m glad it was that way! All I knew about the film was that it was about zombies and that’s all you need to know before watching it. I watched the trailer when I got home, and can safely say it ruins the film. The film itself was both written and directed very well, however, the trailer does not show this.
I’m not saying it’s an award winning film, but it is a very good film and worth the money!
As I said, it’s about Zombies. Within the first five minutes of the film you’re exposed to the zombies taking over New York and you are thrown straight into the action from the start. The film follows Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) a former UN investigator as he tries to save the world from being taken over by the zombies.
Lane manages to secure his family beds aboard an American battleship while he is called back into service to discover the root of the plague.
The film carries a good ending. It was one of those films that as you gradually reached the end you couldn’t help but worry that it was going to be rushed. The film is left open, whether due to decisions of a follow up, or to prevent it being rushed we don’t yet know. But what we do know is that is a film worth watching for its strong storyline and imaginative acting.
While the zombies are meant to be scary, they definitely left me in fits of laughter. The acting carried out by them all was very entertaining and provided a different edge to the normal zombie character.
